We decided do our sailing in the Ionian Islands. These islands, off Greece’s western
coast, charm all seafarers with mountainside monasteries, quaint villages,
endless olive groves and white beaches with super blue water. A plane ride from Athens to Corfu (the
largest of the Ionian Islands) was only about 2 hours.
The Old Fortress of Corfu-these Venetian remains were built in 1550 but also present are fortifications built in the 5th century. This picture was taken off of our sailboat as we sailed south to other islands- tuff sail.
Here is a shot of me and Mr. No Problem (the owner of the
family owned Penelope Inn on Boukari Beach in far south Corfu island)
underneath some of his grape vines.
We think he lost our reservation but he offered to let us stay at his house. If this man was your customer service
representative then your company would no doubt be Number One!
This was taken just in front of our outdoor dining room at
the Boukari Beach Restaurant. Hey,
the place has great Greek food as well.
Here is a tranquil shot of me and Melissa at the north end
of Corfu (Paleokastritsa). This is
just prior to me going insane driving our rent car through the island’s super
narrow roads with poor road signs.
Don’t get me wrong “ The Greek men are gracious folks but don’t let them
behind the wheel of a car, please!”
