We chose to sail the Ionian Islands-which are 400 miles to
the west of Athens. But why not
stop in Athens for an ouzo or two.
We wandered through the streets of Athens (Plaka) soaking up
the local color. Notice the
Parthenon in the background.
Changing of the guard at the Greek Parliament House in
Athens. This is the same place where a lot of economic demonstrations were recently held.
Temple of Zeus.
To see the history of ancient civilization everywhere you look. To imagine toga-clad men who conceived
philosophy, law, mathematics, and astronomy?
And of course, to relax a bit with a glass of wine in front
of some olive trees before heading out to sail the Ionian Sea. Yes, it is a must.
