FLORIDA KEYS "Gunkholing with the Creo Que Puedo (our little tugboat)" November - January 2012

"What-to-do-with-a-drunken-sailor?" Just ask any of 'em and they'll tell ya-The Schooner Bar-the very last piece of old Key West-been around since Davy Jones. There sits Michael McCloud singing about what's happening: "ya get bimbos and bozos and bikers and boozers-daytime drunks and 3 time losers...."

After mooring the boat, we used our coupons for National Rent-A Car where you "pick-what-you-wanna-drive" from the lot. Melissa insisted on a vehicle that matched her dress. Don't argue with a woman?

There's a secret that they don't tell the people on the big cruise ships-here at Key West. And that is: the Conch Shack is just about the best place to eat on the island.

Home Port: Sally's house at Treasure Harbor on Plantation Key. We used the galley and master stateroom here (on most occasions) while the Creo Que Puedo sailed us to all the neat beaches, little islands and local bars.

Here's the parking lot at the nearby Island Bar-located on the east tip of Windley Key. Try the fresh ahi-tuna nachos on a bed of seaweed and wasabi washed down by a draft of
Key West Sunset Ale!

And of course, what would life be without a little steel pan music. Moored here at Little Harbor on Upper Matecumbe Key, surrounded by pretty green mangroves. The entrance is a little hard to pick out, especially while mixing a rum drink!

"Red Tug in the Sunset
Way out on the Blue
Why oh why
Can't I be out-there with you!"
