Xilitla, Mexico (5/18/09)

Take an 8 hour Mexican bus ride to Ciudad Valles. Then take a 2 hour "chicken bus" to the little Mexican town of Xilitla. Es un lugar donde el tiempo y el espacio se conjugan desde tiempos inmemoriales con misteriosos secretos por descubrir.

The "chicken bus" stops here. Better know enough to get off the bus!

Carved from the jungle thickets, this was the surreal world home of creator, Sir Edward James, rumored to be the illegitimate son of King Edward VII.

In this obscure orchid-drenched rain forest, Sir Edward created a masterpiece of surreal creations.

The name of his home is Las Pozas. It would be one of North America's largest attractions except for the fact that most people can't get there. As Sir Edward describes "My house has wings and sometimes in the dead of the night, she sings." I can understand this because my house does the same things at times.

Sir Edward llego' a Xilitla y quedo maravillado con el esplendor de su paisaje y con las caidas de agua naturales en el Arroyo de La Conchita.

Here I am in front of the local grocery store. Melissa wanted some red caviar and a can of vichyssoise.

But the adventure is not over. Take a 2 hour ride on "cow trail" and then charter one of these fine yachts for a little trip to the Cascadas de Tamul.

The Cascadas de Tamul, the largest in the state. Sorry no T-shirts.
